Description

This module serves as a foundational guide to safety in film and television production, offering essential knowledge to cultivate a culture of safety on set. While it does not provide formal safety certification, it equips students with the tools to understand protocols and resources critical for safe operations. Topics include the General Code of Safe Practices, safety meetings, location-specific hazards, permits, and basic safety measures for props and equipment.


Students will learn the role of safety representatives, the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and how to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS). The module emphasizes the value of daily safety meetings led by the 1st AD or specialists for high-risk activities, such as stunts or special effects. It also highlights the unique challenges of working in temporary locations and adapting spaces safely.


By fostering personal accountability and awareness, this module provides a strong foundation for navigating production safety responsibly.
